Mission Statement

“The Momo Jones Foundations is about helping children maintain and build goals. Helping kids believe in themselves and their given abilities. We strive to pull the best out of children whom don't believe in themselves and we help kids in which have goals maintain those goals. This foundation is made up to allow children from the ages of 10-18 understand the importance of believing in ones self. Helping kids to understand that anything is possible and that they don't have to become what society tells them they should be. They can become what they want to become. Most importantly we strive to show kids that "You aren't what happens to you, you are what you choose to be!!"- Lamont Momo Jones, (9/20/2013) In 2013 the Momo Jones Foundation will submit this proposal which will hopefully establish this foundation as a 501 (c) 3 not-for- profit organization with the purpose of providing a safe haven where inner-city youth participate in a comprehensive program of basketball clinics that promotes the physical, educational and life skills necessary to prepare and empower them for leadership in their communities and success in their personal lives. Lamont "Momo" Jones founder of the foundation knows all to well about the impoverished lifestyle most of the inner city youth are enduring. He faced the same problems faced by similar mostly urban, minority neighborhoods. He grew up right in the mist of crime, truancy, substance abuse, obesity, and academic failure. But through the triumphs of playing basketball throughout his life he triumphed through what society had in store for him. Basketball is “Momo” Jones. Now, instead of seeing throngs of kids hanging out on street corners with nothing to do but engage in illicit activity, we want to engage them in basketball clinics with individuals that have or lived through the same experiences as inner city youth. New York City is home to many athletes who will hopefully be willing to sponsor the development of this foundation. With the help of small business in Harlem as well as large corporations we will be able to change and mold the dynamics of children 10-18 years of age. Since this is a basketball clinic with the help of local gyms or after school programs with access to gyms we will be able to hold these clinics during the summer months as well as hosting "back to school" tournaments that will feature some of basketballs greatest stars.
